IBM Informix on Cloud

This paper discusses the use of the IBM Informix database in the cloud and, more particularly, within hybrid cloud environments. Many experts believe – and we agree – that hybrid cloud will be the de-facto standard for mission critical deployments going forward. Substantial parts of such applications will remain on premises but where auxiliary and additional data can be sensibly hosted in the cloud, then it will make economic sense to do so. In such an environment it will make sense to have the same database management system deployed both on premises and in the cloud. This paper argues that IBM Informix is a suitable candidate for such deployments.
