When I see a new device one of my first thoughts is could it help a person with a disability. This is more likely if it has been designed by someone who was temporarily disabled; for example Tabbi was designed by someone traveling long haul in economy class. Economy class does not give you enough room to put things down or to move around and you cannot position your tablet so that it comfortably relates to your head and hands. The result a stiff neck, RSI or a tablet on the floor.

The resultant design is a neat stand that holds the tablet steady and at a convenient position either at eye level to watch a movie or just above the table to read and type. The unique part of the design are the two rubber sticky plates: one holds the stand to any flat surface such as the table or the screen in the back of the seat in front, the second holds any tablet device ranging from a small smartphone to 10.1" tablet. It really does stick without damaging the surface or leaving a residue. The designer has got the balance right between making sure it stays put and still being able to remove the device easily. A simple ball and socket allows the device to be orientated in any direction.

The ability of this stand to attach to any flat surface horizontal or vertical means that it could be of interest to people who cannot hold the device for any period but do need to use it in different environments: at home, in the office, in the car, in the train or in long haul economy.

It is being brought to market using Kickstart and was released on 18 February 2015. To find out more go to . If you would like one you need to support the kickstart.
