Mendix - Rapid App Development for the business

Mendix is a rapid app development PaaS (Platform as a Service) environment for the enterprise. It uses visual modelling (Model-Driven-Development) to produce new-style apps for the modern enterprise’s “citizen developers” –  nimble, innovators, often advanced business users/analysts, sometimes building small departmental systems but often large ones too – with interfaces to systems of record. It is also increasingly being used by traditional IT developers, even for mission-critical applications. Mendix has always been a Cloud solution since its introduction in 2005 (it claims to be “Cloud Native”) and assumes Cloud deployment, so it is “optimised for cloud” (although on-premise enterprise options are available).
