Like many data spaces, Test Data Management (TDM) has benefitted from generative AI: AI can be used to understand your production data, driving context-aware data profiling and enabling the creation of test data that accurately represents it; it can automate large parts of your TDM solution, accelerating it in the process; and it can power natural language interfaces that let you interact with your testing processes without worrying about technical details, enabling greater self-service.

On the other hand, TDM is not the only area that generative AI is accelerating: the development lifecycle as a whole is speeding up, and accelerating your TDM processes to match this increased pace is essential to avoid bottlenecks. AI models demand data, and have their own sensitivity requirements, and while TDM tools are a natural choice to provide this data, they will likely need to be reconfigured for this purpose. Finally, generative AI is fundamentally probabilistic, and you will need to carefully monitor and validate any process automated by it to ensure that it does not stray from its intended effect.

In light of the above, this report discusses and compares several leading TDM vendors in a generative AI context.
