Empowering Partnerships with improved interoperability and data integration for Enhanced Healthcare Solutions

From a technology perspective, the advent of Generative Ai (GenAI) and the widespread availability of cloud-based development tools and techniques, offer the prospect of innovative new solutions for healthcare systems struggling to cope with rising demand from ageing populations with complex care needs, constrained budgets and staff shortages. However, a large patchwork of providers, many with legacy IT systems that don’t inter-operate easily, significant amounts of data held in just about every format imaginable, and organisational structures in a constant state of flux, have made it very difficult for solution providers to gain wider traction for their innovations, beyond initial implementations within specific individual, or small groups of Healthcare Trusts. It is too early to tell if the vision in the 10 year plan of reducing the amount of top down direction, devolving power to new Integrated Care Systems at a local level and developing a system wide Federated Data Platform will be successful, but ISV and Systems Integrators need to be cognisant of the desired direction of travel.
