Darren Sack
Research Director, Finance | Bloor Research International
Darren Sack is Research Director for Finance at Bloor Research International, leading the organisation’s research into the financial architecture of AI adoption.
With more than three decades in finance, spanning corporate reporting, financial analysis and advisory work across global enterprises, Darren helps organisations and vendors alike see what industrial-era financial metrics no longer show them, as AI reshapes cost, capital and value creation across the whole system.
Darren directs the “When EBITDA Lies” research franchise, examining how AI-embedding shifts cost onto lines that standard reporting was never built to capture, and onto the hidden liability trilogy of compute debt, labour debt and lease debt.
His work gives finance leaders and boards a clearer read on hybrid human-plus-digital economics, built around practical instruments including the Asset/Liability Curve and Financial Re-engineering, Bloor’s diagnostic for enterprise-wide on- and off-balance-sheet debt and liability.
That system view runs both ways. Darren applies the same financial discipline to the enterprises adopting AI and to the vendors building the financial and ERP systems they run on, assessing not just the technology but the capital position and roadmap behind it.
His own background in financial products means he can test what a vendor claims to solve for finance against what the software actually delivers: whether it is the right problem, and whether the claim is true, classic Bloor vendor analysis applied to financial systems.
It’s a combined view no other analyst firm offers, pairing the technology read analyst relations teams expect with the financial read investor relations teams track, and it means Darren engages equally naturally from the buyer side and the vendor side of the conversation.
Through his work at Bloor Research, Darren continues to advance new thinking on the financial dimensions of AI adoption, helping organisations and vendors move from reform that adjusts the past to reset that designs the future.
