Peter is a specialist in the practical issues of compliance and governance with over 40 year’s relevant experience in the business application of information systems.

As a British Standards Institution (BSI) Management Committee member Peter has contributed to the BSI their Evidential Weight and Legal Admissibility of Electronic Information publications since 1994. Peter is Joint Author of the BSI Codes of Practice and Compliance Workbook supporting the Standard, BS 10008; he has also written a Guide on the Legal and Record Keeping implications of doing business on the Internet published by BSI.

In addition, Peter has worked with BSI to deliver a wide range of workshops including ones addressing Email Records Management, Email and the Law, Information Security and the Law, and Evidential Weight and Legal Admissibility for over 20 years. Peter has presented papers on the impact of existing and planned legislation on information retention and management at events across the UK.

He has an in-depth and pragmatic working knowledge of the Law and the use of Information Technology, especially the information lifecycle management requirements of organizations. Peter’s consultancy assignments have enabled many well-known public and private organizations to understand their own information cost/risk profiles, legal constraints, strengths and weaknesses of existing processes, procedures and internal controls and consequently safely move to dependency on demonstrably trustworthy electronic records and comply with the wide range of regulation and legislation including, but not limited to, the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act, the Human Rights Act, the Financial Services Act, and standards such as ISO 27001 and BS 10008.
