For most of the last 20 years it has been readily agreed that the supply chain has a repetitive life cycle as defined by the Supply-Chain Council (SCC). SCC developed the Supply-Chain Operations Reference-model (SCOR), a process reference model for supply chain management. In April 2014, it was announced that SCC would merge with the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICs). The merger completed in August 2014.
This merger follows the need of planning to drive down into manufacturing operations to support the agility and flexibility of today’s manufacturing world.
