Welcome to the November 2016 issue of the Bloor MiniMag. The theme for this issue is the Mutable Enterprise, which is what Bloor sees as the Enterprise for the 21st century.
It is the Enterprise in a constant state of change, as it copes with constantly changing technology and business environments. It is associated with an inflection point, where automation and artificial intelligence (AI) - aided by the availability, for automated analytics and decision support, of vast amounts of data, sourced; primarily, but not exclusively, from the Internet of Things - finally get good enough to automate most of the business middle-managers out of a job.
We are not there yet, but the most forward-looking companies are engaging in "digital transformation" already. The next step is when they realise that once you have digitally transformed once, it gets addictive. Providing that you can service (or delight) your existing customers while you transform, continuous transformation - being able to respond in something approaching real-time to the perceived needs of increasingly fickle, technology-aware, customers - gives an Enterprise a competitive edge.
We will also provide our view of the Data Layer, which is what grounds the Mutable Enterprise in the world of real data, and let you know what Bloor analysts are currently finding interesting in this evolving picture.
