The advantages of a maturity model are that it helps you to assess where you are and where you want to get to and, based on that recognition, can assist in putting a realistic plan together in order to manage the maturing process. As with all maturity models, it is not the case that all companies or departments
should aim to reach the highest levels of the model, as what suits one organisation will not necessarily suit another.
