Security challenges in telecommunications

The rise of internet protocol-based networks has led to a sea change in the way telecommunications operators gain their revenues as margins continue to fall. To remain competitive, they must transform themselves from communications carriers to managed service providers and must strive to become more efficient, customer-centric and competitive. This means that they must offer more interactive services to customers through multiple communications channels, but at the same time mitigate the privacy and security threats that are a feature of modern communications networks.
