The primary value in analytic warehouses is in supporting complex and ad hoc analytic queries with sufficient performance to meet business needs and support service level agreements. They may be implemented in one of two environments: either specifically for these sorts of tasks (possibly with some conventional business intelligence capability as well), typically in a data mart; or in conjunction with operational business intelligence and/or master data management in which the implementation will be as an enterprise data warehouse.
