A headline in PCWorld in October 2013 caught my eye; it read “Intellinote brings social note-taking to business.” This rather intrigued me so I arranged for a briefing with Tony Lopresti (CEO and Co-founder).

Who are Intellinote? The company has its headquarters in Reston, North Virginia. My first question to Lopresti was how would you describe Intellinote? He said, “Intellinote is a multi-platform (i.e. it can be used on the web, mobile, and tablet) software application that is taking notes to the next level. The Intellinote application is an intelligent notepad for individuals, teams or entire companies to capture intelligent notes, turn them into actions, and to seamlessly get work done, on any device, anytime, anywhere.” The product runs in the cloud so there is no software to download. If you wanted to compare Intellinote to products you might have now it is like a combination of IBM Notes and Microsoft SharePoint, but based on a 21st century platform.

Like SharePoint, you can create a workspace to share with your colleagues. A user can capture pretty well anything from notes, emails, images and documents. A note can then be turned into a task and assigned to a person with a due date. Alternatively a note can be turned into a question and Intellinote will route it to the correct subject experts to answer. Projects and tasks can be monitored. One of new capabilities in the current version is the ability to create a Google Doc as well as upload to Google Drive. The product comes with a set of standard project templates.

Lopresti shared some of the product’s future with me. Released today is Intellinote’s brand new interface with enhanced features including an upgraded calendar and management dashboard. Due next month (May) is support for the Android environment. Work is also underway to provide integration with Salesforce.

This is definitely an interesting product, especially for SME’s as well as departments in larger organisations. I would definitely recommend taking the opportunity to use the free trial available at the moment.
